"IBM At the Movies" Executive Seminar
Irvine, California May, 1999
Delta Max was the highlighted keynote speaker at this by-invitation-only executive seminar on emerging E-Commerce opportunities for private and public sector organizations. The meeting was held in the packed, sold-out Edwards Movie Theatre complex at the Irvine Spectrum, and the attendees "learned a lot in a short period of time", as per one attendee's comment. Close to 500 executives heard Delta Max and selected IBM executives discuss the approaches and best practices which were now being developed and validated by the emerging B2B E-business community. Delta Max spoke for almost an hour on "Cashing in on E-Commerce", the reasons for companies and public organizations making this application commitment in today's market environment. Later, various IBM technical and sales executives described the IBM approach to the new E-Business opportunities, and some of the IBM products and services. Delta Max defined as the primary vehicle for this new opportunity, an "E-Channel", his coined term to define the Forward/Rearward facing Internet-based technological revolution that is taking shape not only in America, but around the world. He said it was not a Computer revolution, but a Content and Communications breakthrough, as well as a unique opportunity existing today, which would not come along again soon. He listed what was working and what was not, and what steps the savvy business and public sector top executive should take to ensure that their organizations designed and implemented effective customer/client based services. Delta Max challenged the executives present to "seize this opportunity now, as it definitely is a snooze-and-you-lose type of environment." Still, Delta Max cautioned, "... do not just rush headlong into the implementation of applications which are not well-thought-through, and do not have well-defined goals and objectives." Delta Maxpredicted that, despite what many have said, "...the current dot.com boom will bust soon, as those who try to make the Internet a substitute for good business and organizational policy and judgment drop quickly by the wayside." Delta Max said that the prudent organization will realize that "... an outstanding opportunity exists now", and will move with deliberate haste at the same time as employing normal organizational reviews and management checks as the web initiatives progress. In the Q&A segment, Delta Max described and demonstrated his company's Business Needs Assessment Analysis Methodology, a means for President's and CEO's to systematically define and organize the benefits, costs, and timeframes of an E-Channel implementation at their organization. DELTA MAX has been at the forefront of the promotion and implementation of this methodology for many years, Delta Max said, and have applied it to over 40 companies and organizations, both public and private, with outstanding results and accomplishments. After the meeting, IBM and 50 of its reseller partners hosted the executives to a reception and vendor exhibition, and discussions and business continued throughout the balance of the day. |
