DELTA MAX was engaged to perform a Business Needs Requirement Analyses and Technology Review for a scion of a very famous Rock group, who was interested in starting his own music recording label and publishing company. The recording and Music Publishing Industry is composed of a very small number of companies with many rules and deal terms which music artists often find to be too restrictive and limiting.

To a new musician to the industry, it is far from simple to get that potentially hot new song just written and wowing them throughout the club scenes, into a recording studio, for lots of reasons. It takes money to record the album tracks on high quality equipment, which is today being somewhat alleviated through the emergence of Personal Computer recording and editing hardware and some pretty elegant sound system software. But, even once recorded and the background supporting players and ambiance paid, the musician faces the daunting task of making the public aware of the song(s), making the many copies of the album, complete with liner notes and proper artwork, and most of all, getting those albums into the K-Marts and record stores for people to purchase.
The solution has started to emerge from a strange direction: the Internet. Long the bane of established groups, songs have been recorded and downloaded by Napster and Kazaa for some time now, and while the laws are catching up to the unregulated copy distribution venues, the outcome of that legislation is far from certain. Still, the Internet also provides the capability for streaming video and audio directly into a home PC, hopefully for our young artist, for a reasonable fee. Thus, if the streaming can be made into an E-Commerce business technology, the musicians have now an access to the entire public audience, bypassing the traditional channels, and hassles, of the traditional Music Industry. That is exactly what our client wanted to do, and engaged Delta Max to help him conceive and design, both technically and structurally.
DELTA MAX did a thorough analysis of all the contracts and agreements presently in use in the Music Industry, and presented the results to this client for his use in establishing the legal arrangements for new artists which could be potentially represented by the client. This was done in addition to the technical design of an interactive recording studio, multi-site recording technology schema for artists jamming on a song from anywhere in the world, and delivery of music-for-a-fee via internet streaming directly to clients, all with full security and identity management.
The final result was a complete studio operational, legal, and technical studio description and summary, unique in perhaps all the world. This summary is presently under evaluation and in the process of obtaining specific bids for equipment, software and services to implement this artist/producer/publisher's dream of providing a new venue for budding musical artists.
